We recently celebrated Momentum’s 10-year anniversary — and what a ride it’s been.
Looking back, I’m filled with gratitude. Over the years, we’ve been surrounded by incredible people — our team, our clients, our friends, and our families — who’ve helped build something worth celebrating: ten years of growth, collaboration, and momentum that just keeps climbing.
The 80’s theme of our celebration wasn’t just about neon or nostalgia. It was about the boldness, creativity, and fearless energy that’s fueled Momentum from the very beginning.
🛫 Takeoff: The Early Days
Ten years ago, I was working at what I like to call your granddaddy’s accounting firm — the kind where “innovation” meant color-coded folders and gray-haired partners had no time for questions. But I knew we could do better. We could make accounting smarter, simpler — maybe even fun.
Enter Brae Frazier, my original co-pilot. She gave me the encouragement (and maybe a little shove) to take off and launch Momentum. She’ll always be part of our origin story — the Goose to my Maverick when this plane first left the runway.
Our first clients were family and friends who believed in us before we even had a logo. We started small — in a shared office at Galvanize (think startup hangar with beer on tap). But we always knew Downtown Fort Collins was where we belonged.
A year later, we upgraded to the America Building — complete with our very own conference room. It felt like hearing Eye of the Tiger on takeoff.
Then, in 2019, we made another big move — to our current home at Mason and Oak. A true labor of love, this space was designed to be modern, vibrant, and welcoming — a reflection of who we’d become. It validated our professionalism while embracing the creativity, energy, and personal touch that define Momentum.
This wasn’t just an office. It was a statement: accounting can be fresh, innovative, and human.
🧾 The Climb: Finding Our Altitude
The early years were a test of endurance and engineering. I learned quickly that accounting isn’t just about numbers — it’s about people. Clients trust us with their dreams, fears, and sometimes their deepest financial secrets. Our “armchair accounting” approach often looked a lot like therapy — complete with tissues and whiskey.
Every new client and team member meant refining systems, building processes, and teaching young copilots how to navigate the skies of different industries. Through that, we didn’t just build workflows — we built a culture. One where accuracy, automation, and approachability coexist.
Our focus on systems and innovation isn’t about cutting corners — it’s about freeing up space for what truly matters: people, relationships, and trust. Because at the end of the day, numbers tell stories. And we’ve always believed in listening to them.
👩✈️ The Crew: The Heart of Momentum
This team — our flight crew — are the real heroes of this story.
Amy is our newest addition, passionate about helping nonprofit clients with fundraising, grant reporting, and mission-focused budgeting. When she’s not keeping numbers on course, she’s walking her dogs, volunteering at Rocky Mountain National Park, or cheering for her Packers.
Darian, part of the Momentum crew for nearly four years, keeps our clients organized and our deadlines on track. When she’s not categorizing expenses or filing sales taxes, she’s reading, crafting, and rooting for her Cowboys.
Kail has been flying with us for almost five years and has mastered the art of tax prep. His endless questions may drive clients just a little bonkers, but it’s only because he’s determined to find every possible deduction. When he’s not crunching numbers, you’ll find him golfing, boating, or cheering on the Huskers, Chargers, Rams, or Lakers.
Danae has been part of Momentum for seven years — and yes, she’s also my daughter. I’ve had the joy of watching her grow from Junior Bookkeeper to Firm Manager. She keeps our firm organized (including me) and makes every caller feel heard. And, of course, as our resident Swiftie, her Chiefs pride runs deep.
In an industry where turnover can be faster than a flyby, this crew has stayed steady and strong. They’ve weathered change, mastered new tech, laughed through busy seasons, and built relationships that last longer than any fiscal year. They make the hard look easy and the complex look simple — and they do it all with heart.
💡 The Mission: Empowering Entrepreneurs
Our mission has been clear since day one: “We empower entrepreneurs with financial clarity so they can grow boldly and live freely.”
Our values — to be approachable, knowledgeable, available, and confidential advisors — aren’t just words on a wall. They’re how we operate, communicate, and serve. We make accounting human. We make it accessible. And yes — we make it fun.
🚀 The Future: New Horizons
Ten years in, we’re flying into a new era — one that would’ve blown the 80’s right out of the water. We’ve made best friends with AI — our own version of a trusted co-pilot — helping us automate the busy work so we can focus more on what matters: connection, insight, and strategy.
Technology might be our wingman, but people will always be the heart of the mission. Every system, every innovation, every process we build is designed to give our clients something powerful: confidence and clarity.
The next decade of Momentum is about growth — growing our team, expanding our expertise, and continuing to raise the bar for what accounting can feel like.
Because no matter how advanced the tools become, one truth remains: “It’s not the software that creates success — it’s the humans behind it.”
💬 One More Thing: Our Ask
Momentum has always grown through trust and relationships. If you’ve worked with us and we’ve helped make your business stronger — help us keep that momentum going. Send us a referral, introduce us to another entrepreneur, or share your experience. That’s how we’ll keep this jet fueled for the next 10 years.
Because together, we’re not just flying — we’re building something that lasts.
❤️ Gratitude and Glory
To our clients: thank you for trusting us to be part of your story.
To our team:thank you for your brilliance, humor, and loyalty.
And to our families and friends: thank you for supporting us through the deadlines, the late nights, and the “just one more email” promises.
Ten years ago, we took off not knowing where we’d land. But here we are — stronger, sharper, and more united than ever. So here’s to the past, the future, and to flying higher together.
As Maverick said: “It’s not the plane — it’s the pilot.”
And at Momentum, we’ve got the best damn crew in the sky.
